Fuji Sengen Shrine(冨士浅間神社)

Many visitors attempting Mt. Fuji would pay a visit to the Fuji Sengen shrine(冨士浅間神社)to pray for a safe journey before climbing the mountain. This shrine is beautiful in spring and autumn, with cherry blossoms or red leaves framing it very prettily. The name is interesting because of the missing dot on the top of the first kanji. This is a pun on the fact that you are near Mt. Fuji, but you are not at the top of Mt. Fuji.

At Gotemba station, take the Fuji exit, walk down the stairs to your left and you will see the small bus terminal. At the ticketing counter, ask for a ticket to Fuji Shrine. Stand in line at the number 5 bus bay for the bus heading to Yamanakako in Yamanashi prefecture.
